WHY GET A PARALLEL PROFILE™?

Take control of your health and the health of your loved ones.

  • 350 Americans die every single day from a prescription medication they and their doctors thought was going to help them, but instead they got an unexpected adverse drug reaction (ADR).

  • ADRs send 7,400 people a day to the hospital…that’s 1 person every 12 seconds.

  • The FDA has stated that pharmacogenomics (DNA testing that reveals how medications affect individuals) can play an important role in discovering responders and non-responders to medications, avoiding ADRs (adverse drug reactions) and optimizing medication dosage.

A Parallel Profile™ can save your life!

“The vast majority of drugs – more than 90% – only work in 30-50% of the people.”
—Dr. Allen Roses, Worldwide Vice President of Genetics, GlaxoSmithKline, 2016

If the drugs you're taking aren't doing their job they are leaving you at risk. Fortunately, there are alternatives to most commonly prescribed medications, and knowing which ones will work for you is now possible.

PGx tests are scientifically proven and used by world-renowned centers of excellence, and recommended by leading physicians.

However, with the exception of the relatively few physicians trained in how medications are affected by individual genetics, most physicians do not consider the results of pharmacogenomics testing before prescribing a particular medication.

Your physicians may not be fully aware of the newest information or even the dangers of taking medications with the potential of serious side effects for those who do not metabolize medications properly. Like other specialists your doctor relies on, Parallel Profile™’s specially trained physicians can order a custom Parallel Profile™ and explain the results to you and all your physicians, so everyone knows what’s likely to help and be safe for you.

What is Parallel Profile™?

Genetic profiles are as unique as individual fingerprints. Understanding your genetic makeup is useful to know which medications will likely work and which ones may carry higher risks for each individual. Parallel Profile™ matches medications to your DNA and gives you the information you need to take them safely.

By using pharmacogenomics (PGx), you’ll receive a personalized report on how your body may react when taking a medication and how it may interact with other prescription medications, over the counter medications, vitamins and supplements, as well as what you eat and drink. It can help you quickly know possible side effects and adverse reactions to watch for, and alternatives that may work much better and be much safer for you. Your Profile will also prepare you in case of emergencies and for any future prescription needs.

The Science

To work, a medication has to be properly metabolized, absorbed and utilized. How you will respond to a medication is as unique as your fingerprints. Only a PGx test can forecast how you will be affected by hundreds of medications. No other tests – not urine, blood or ancestry – or family history provides the needed information. The good news is it’s easy, painless and affordable. And, for all the medications we test for (with more being added as the scientific evidence is confirmed), you will know if a medicine will help you, do nothing for you, put you at higher than normal risk, or even kill you. The more medications you take, the greater the risk and the more you will benefit from ordering Parallel Profile™ Premium.

Even medications you have taken for years can put you at risk in the future. Now you can know in advance and consult with the prescribing physician to decide whether or not an alternative makes sense for you. Why not take advantage of this opportunity to stay informed and protect yourself from a dangerous health risk?

Lab Certification

Each Parallel Profile™ includes a PGx genetic test that are performed by a U.S. Government agency accredited lab (CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited).

Three federal agencies are responsible for CLIA: The FDA, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Certification is administered by CMS. The Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) program ensures quality laboratory testing by regulating all laboratories that handle patient samples to verify accurate, reliable and timely delivery of test results. CLIA also mandates laboratory test method verification, instrument calibration and calibration verification, personnel credentials and experience, proficiency testing, quality control and quality assessment.

Why Match Your Medications to Your DNA?

Most people assume that because the medications their doctors prescribe are FDA approved, they will work and are safe for everyone.  But because of the differences in people’s genetic profile and interactions with other medications, food, or alcohol, more than 125,000 people die annually, and 2,700,000 are hospitalized each year from ADRs.

How you will respond to a medication is as unique as your fingerprints.

It’s true! Words like “most” or “average” doesn’t necessarily apply to you. No matter the common side effects for any medications, and no matter the average statistics for encountering ADRs for a specific prescription medication, you may still have a dangerous or life-threatening reaction – Those people aren’t just statistics, and neither are you. You’re unique, and so is your risk.

The Power of Precision Medicine

Precision medicine is a new and better way to optimize treatment for patients based on their individual genetics, situations and behaviors. Parallel Profile™ gives customers and their doctors the ability to use precision medicine for their care and improve their outcomes significantly.

Most physicians don’t realize that as many as half of their patients will not benefit from a prescribed medicine because of their individual genetics, and until recently, there was no way of knowing which medication would work best, and at what dose.

Your genetics will determine if a medication will:

  • Work at the normal dose
  • Only work at a higher dose
  • Only work at a lower dose
  • Not work at any dose
  • Put you at elevated or significant risk of severe harm or even death
